Ready to Emerge?

I'm ready for the bulbs to pop. Ready for that sign of spring. It's been a long winter. The days of warmer weather are teasing the coming of spring and opening of new growth. It's still a time of COVID restrictions and concerns, but many of us are being vaccinated and government restrictions are being eased. In this moment there is a lot of spring energy, like bulbs bursting from the cold earth, reaching for the warmth and light and freedom.

The restrictions we have lived with over the last year have been a way to manage the global pandemic - we have learned how successful the physical distancing and mask wearing have been! These conscious actions have helped protect ourselves as well as those around us. Now is a good time to recognize how we want to emerge.

Restrictions can make us stronger. In gardening we prune, split, and replant to help the plants grow to their full potential. In yoga philosophy there are the concepts of tapas (practices that develop transformational heat) and bramacharya (right use of energy) where we can choose the actions necessary to build our strength.

Take a minute right now to close your eyes and recognize where you feel strong, all the things that are working well in your body and mind. Remember ways you've built your strength, those times you pushed against resistance or overcame obstacles.

Now think about where and how do you want to grow right now? In this moment, what makes sense for you and your actions? What have you learned in the last 12 months that you want to keep? The invitation is to be mindful in how we move forward in this moment. How will you use the energy of this moment to grow to your fullest potential?
